From July, 1941 to 1960, the co-operative was headed by Yekaterina Alexeyevna Chushkina, who later was, after reorganization, director from 1960 to 1966. She contributed twenty five years – a quarter of a century – to the development of the mechanisation of the production of Orenburg downy shawls. The first workshop of what was to be the future factory of the Paris Commune was built in Basseiny Lane. The State did not supply building materials, so Ye. A. Chushkina went around the districts of the region and purchased old barns and houses that were to be demolished. As a result of the co-operative efforts of all interested parties, the workshop was constructed and commissioned. There were eight machines in the workshop and the first mechanized spindles also came into service. Now, it took the flat-purl machine only an hour to knit the centre of a shawl, work which it had previously taken one knitter several days to complete. This young chairwoman, with her relentless energy, looked for further opportunities to expand production. At the same time, more and more knitters began to apply for work at the collective; however, production space was limited. The chairwoman used this interest to the advantage of the operation and 1951 saw the start of construction on a 700 square-metre extension. Строитель- ные материалы не выделялись, и Е.А. Чушкина сама ездила в районы области и закупала сараи и дома, предназначенные под снос. Общими усилиями цех пустили в эксплуатацию. В нем стояло уже восемь машин, появились и прядильные механизированные веретена – пря- дильные станки.Так, если вручную работница, занятая на вязании серединки платка, затра- чивала несколько дней, то теперь на оборотной машине ей для этого нужен один час. Неуемная энергия молодого председателя искала новые возможности расширения про- изводства. Желающих работать становилось все больше, а рабочей площади не хватало.
